Nutritional Information

In 2010 the United States Department of Agriculture reevaluated the guidelines they had established in regard to food nutrition and healthy eating. My Plate was the result of the evaluation. As part of the My Plate Program, the new food chart is a simplified method of helping people visulize proper proportions from the different food groups while also offering greater flexibility based on an individuals lifestyle. They also recommend general eating guidelines as seen below.

For people who exercise less than 30 minutes per day they recommend the following amounts of fruit.

With apples available year round, as well as applesauce, apples cider, and a multitude of other apple products, apples are a great way to quickly get your daily servings of fruit.

Since apples provide a high fiber and low calorie option, they are often recommended for people who are trying to reduce or control their weight. Eating an apple fills a person up quickly tastes delicious and provides less calories than many processed snacks.

Be sure to bring apples when you go on vacation, camping, to sporting events, or even to parties!
